Remember the moments, Treasure the day- Father’s layout

It’s a sad layout today for me. Yet when I learn about the challenge on More Than Words blog I knew I need to do this piece.Another one in such a short time, but there is a reason for doing it this month 🙁 There is a part of me in this picture, in this men I loved so much. So here you go Dad, hope you can see my scrapbook and hope you like it…
And now just few words about how I made it:
- I coated my scrapbook page ( Barn Market- Remember) with mat gel to avoid warping. On the side I prepared the photo and torn pieces of paper to add them as a background (Choice of Vintage by Vinasia and other scraps laying around)
- I added stenciling (Tim Holtz’ Clockwork stencil) and I sprinkled on the wet texture paste black embossing powder. Let it dry. then I added Finnabair’s Clear Cracle Texture Paste and let it dry overnight
- Afterwards I added stamping with Archival Ink which is permanent and will not get affected by water. Some of the stamps I embossed with black embossing powder. Apart from some of my background stamps I used: Creative Embellishments background stamp, Artemio background stamp and PaperPoetry gear stamp. I also added words from Dina Wakly (All the Gals stamp), so you can see on my layout: Brave, Loyal, Fierce & Strong- those words mean a lot to me
- Then, carrefully, I punched small holes and waved through them turquoise wire
- I also added the same wire to the photo- I made small frame out of it. my Dad was doing a lot of DIY at home and I felt like adding this elements will add more meaning to my work
- After attaching the photo to the layout ( with 3d foam) I cut out few paper gears from the beautiful Industrial collection by Studio Light and few metal screw brads (word Father comes also from the Industrial set)
- Much earlier though I covered few metal gears with black gesso and after drying added to them Finnabair’s Antique Brilliance- Mystic Turquoise wax
- I decided to add some black thread to the project and heart chipboard from Scrapiniec to the photo itself
- And the so important for me splatter- I used two sprays to create it, both from Lindy Stamp Gang: Starbursts- Frolic in the Forest Black and Tainted Love Teal. The teal color worked beautifully with the small flowery drawings in the corners of the layout, so I decided to add more of it in my focal area- mostly in the way of lines.
And that’s it. Done…
And few more close-ups:
