I love dream catchers. Loved them always. And it was so nice to actually do a project about them. In the end I did few dream catchers- one for my  journal page, and few others (together with my daughter:), which I can hang and hope that they will bring us all good dreams.

Their lore is so beautiful…

Dream catchers are part of Native American’s tradition. It is believed that at night there are dreams dancing in the air- good ones and bad ones alike. Dream catcher hung above somebody’s bed has a unique power of catching all of the dreams as they flow by. The good dreams pass through the small hole right in the middle of it and then gently slide down the feathers to fall on a sleeping person. The bad dreams, however, they get tangled in the web inside the circle and when the sun rises they all perish.

Uwielbiam łapacze snów, od zawsze. I dlatego ucieszył mnie pomysł zrobienia z nimi jakiegoś projektu. Okazało się, że zrobiłam stronę w Art Journal’u i kilka takich bardziej prawdziwych łapaczów (parę z nich  zrobiłam razem  z moją córeczką:) Jeden z nich już wisi sobie ładnie z nadzieją, że przyniesie nam same dobre sny:)

Historia łapaczy jest przepiękna…

Są one częścią tradycji Indian z Ameryki Północnej. Wierzą oni, że  nocą dobre i złe sny tańczą w powietrzu. Łapacze zawieszone nad czyimś posłaniem mają specyficzną moc łapania snów, kiedy te zbliżają sie do nich. Dobre sny wpadają przez otwór w środku łapacza i delikatnie zsuwają się po piórkach do śpiącej osoby. Złe sny natomiast plątają się w sieci, i tak uwięzione giną z pierwszym promieniem słońca.
